Text Box: Professional Certification . . . The Career Advantage Certification is the mark of excellence In today's ever-changing business environment, professionals need every advantage to stay a step ahead.  Professional certification demonstrates to employers, clients and associates your commitment to your career. The International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP) offers two professional ratings: The Certified Professional Secretary (CPS) and Certified Administrative Professional (CAP) Both ratings are the recognized standards of proficiency. . . the Capstone of the administrative professional. CPS - Certified Professional Secretary The CPS Examination is a one-day exam, administered each May and November by the International Association of Administrative Professionals.  In order to be eligible to take the exam, you must meet certain educational and work experience requirements. There are three parts to the exam: Finance & Business Law - 30% economics, 35% accounting, 35% business law Office Systems & Administration - 50% office technology, 25% office administration, 25% business communication Management - 36% behavioral science in business, 19% human resources management, 45% organizations and management. CAP - Certified Administrative Professional To attain this rating, an administrative professional must meet certain education and work experience requirements and pass a four-part, one- and one-half day examination which will be administered in May and November by the IAAP. The CAP exam will cover Finance & Business Law, Office Systems & Administration, Management, and Organizational Planning (Team Skills, Strategic Planning, and Advanced Administration).  Current CPS holders will be required to only take the Organizational Planning part of the exam.
